Back for One Special Wedding
Back for One Special Wedding
After fifteen wonderful years of writing wedding blogs for Keswick Vineyards, I had decided it was time to retire my keyboard. Fifteen years felt like a good number — full of beautiful memories, countless “I do’s,” and stories that still make me smile.
But then came Carolyn, the mother of one of our recent brides. She told me how much she had relied on my blogs while planning her daughter’s wedding and they looked forward to the day I would write about their wedding. When she said how disappointed she was that there wouldn’t be one for her daughter’s wedding, well… how could I say no to that?
So here I am, happily unretired — at least for one very special couple.
And honestly, I’m so glad I said yes.
It reminded me why I started writing these blogs in the first place — to capture not just the details, but the feeling of the day. The gentle breeze that rustles through the vines during the ceremony. The clinking of glasses under the tent lights. The proud parents watching from the sidelines, soaking in every moment.
To Carolyn — thank you for the gentle nudge. Your words reminded me how meaningful these stories are, not just for the couples, but for their families and for us here at Keswick Vineyards.
And so, with that, here is that blog!
A Touch of Home in Every Bloom
From start to finish, this wedding was a true reflection of love, family, and thoughtful design. The flowers told their story — from the Southern moss to the cascading arrangements — and Keswick provided the canvas where it all came to life on Friday, October 10th, 2025.
Lets immediately talk about the weather - perfection. The couple had buried a bottle of bourbon in true Southern tradition, and it clearly did its job. The day unfolded under sunshine and gentle warmth, giving way to cool evening air and a touch of fall crispness. The vineyard and surrounding trees were just beginning their colorful transformation, framing the celebration in a palette of early autumn golds and greens.
Catherine & Mitchell chose to be married in front of Keswick Vineyards iconic fountain. Framing the fountain were gorgeous floral arrangements on columns. Guests on the aisle had petals to throw at the end. Of course, we used that fountain to go off as our bride made her entrance and back on when the two of them shared their first kiss!
Out on the cocktail lawn, the round bar took center stage — and what a statement it made! A cascading floral arrangement draped the front like a living sculpture, perfectly framed by draped bistro lights overhead. Guest not only enjoyed delicious wines from Keswick Vineyards, but also satisfied their appetites with delicious passed appetizers.
And the flowers didn’t stop there. Even the desserts joined in on the artistry! The cupcakes were topped with frosting so realistic; it was hard to believe they weren’t actual flowers. Each one looked like it had been plucked straight from a garden — yet they tasted even better than they looked.
Adding to the magic, the mother of the bride, Carolyn, had chosen a dress that turned out to be the perfect match to the floral design — not only in color, but in the very blooms featured throughout the arrangements. Without even realizing it, she became part of the floral palette herself, and it couldn’t have been more fitting for such a special day.
Under our Aurora tent, guests were greeted by a stunning display of greenery gracefully draped along the swagged bistro lights. The florist went above and beyond, weaving in touches of soft moss that instantly gave the space an inviting, at-home warmth. It was more than beautiful décor — it was a heartfelt nod to the bride’s family vacation home in South Carolina.
Inside the tent, every table was a work of art. Velvet linens in rich, teal tones complemented the bridesmaids’ dresses, while chandeliers hung gracefully above the dance floor and head table, casting a romantic glow throughout the evening. The tablescapes — accented with candles, fruit, and even artichokes — added a whimsical, organic touch. Who knew a humble artichoke could look so elegant?
Guests also loved one very personal detail: instead of a traditional guestbook, everyone signed a Wisconsin football jersey with the number 10 — a clever nod to their October 10th wedding date. It was such a fun, memorable keepsake that reflected their personalities perfectly.
To Carolyn, thank you for inspiring me to come out of retirement to write just one more blog. And to the newlyweds, thank you for giving us another unforgettable day here at Keswick Vineyards — a day that reminded us all how love, like the vines that surround us, continues to grow more beautiful with time.
