Champagne Anyone?????

Congratulations to Andrea & Alex who were married on April 23rd at the gorgeous wedding venue Keswick Vineyards which is located just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia.  Did you know that Charlottesville is the #2 destination wedding city in the United States?  I think you can see why when you look at the beautiful views you get at Keswick Vineyards.  What a beautiful Spring Day these two had.

Andrea & Alex showed their uniqueness with their wedding details.  First, look at their attire.  Andrea wore a unique, asymmetrical wedding dress that I have never seen anything closely resembling it in the 12 + years we have been doing weddings at Keswick Vineyards.  It had the bottom of a mermaid style dress with an asymmetrical cut with tulle to allow for more movement.  A perfect choice for a Spring wedding.  And let’s not overlook Alex with his style of clothing.  Again, something we don’t see often but really expresses his individuality which I love!

For the ceremony, Andrea & Alex chose to get married in front of the fountain with the Estate view on one side and the tail end of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the other side framing their location.  I love how Andrea had her mother and sister, who also was her Maid of Honor, walk her down the aisle.  Doesn’t that say a lot about their relationships?

My favorite part of their wedding had to be the champagne tower.  Who doesn’t love that????  The couple had so much fun pouring bottles and bottles of bubbly onto the top glass as it spilled upon layer and layers of glasses.  Each guest then came and received a glass to toast to the love and happiness of Andrea & Alex.

And thank you Mother Nature for not only giving them this warm spring day but to also include a beautiful sunset to reinforce why Charlottesville is the #2 destination wedding city in the United States.

Simple, Timeless, Classic, Elegant

Simple, Timeless, Classic & Elegant are some of the most popular adjectives we hear from our couples when they tour and describe the type of wedding they envision.   I would have to say that Kalee & Stephen achieved that goal with their wedding at Keswick Vineyards on April 22nd.

First, this couple chose to keep their florals very simple by using mostly baby breath with a few centerpieces with tulips.  Not only does this help on the budget, but it allows the natural beauty of Keswick Vineyards to do the talking.  No need to compete when you have views like this for your ceremony.  Whichever way you look, you have the beauty of Virginia’s mountains or a classic Virginia Estate.

The couple kept things simple yet added some touches that just made things a little more elegant.  Lets start with the champagne wall.  Right from the start guests knew they were in for a treat by immediately helping themselves to a glass of champagne.  From there they immediately are taken back by the beauty of Edgewood Estate, the Virginia Mountains and of course, our iconic fountain.  Lets just say, sensory overload!

After the gorgeous ceremony guests headed to cocktail hour.  Just take a look at this 300+ year old Oak tree to shade your guests under as they sip a cocktail or two.  I just love again the little elegant touch of a sign describing drinks for their guests.  And speaking of another “splash” of something simple yet eye catching, the couple used cake pops displayed on a white shelved wall as their escort cards.  Who doesn’t like a sweet treat?

Speaking of sweet treats for their wedding, just look at this simple, timeless, classic wedding cake.  Nothing over the top.  Instead, this couple added a few more wonderful surprises to finish their wedding night with.  Everyone loves a good bourbon bar and cigar bar to wrap up the evening and then to include a food truck with delicious chicken and waffles, perfection!

The Beauty of a Spring Wedding

I am asked so many times what I would recommend as the best month to get married in?  That is such a difficult question because every wedding seems so perfect and beautiful here that it is hard to pick but when you have the weather like Jessica and Brandon had for their April 16th wedding, it’s hard not to pick spring.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, was taken by the beauty of Keswick Vineyards property that day.  All the dogwood trees were flowering, the azaleas, lilacs and gardenia bushes were all starting to bloom, the beginning of greenery on the vines and trees were starting to show, the grass was that perfect color of green, I mean everything was just gorgeous.  The weather was perfect.  Just enough warmth during the day to be comfortable in and not too cold at night that you need to lower the tent sides.  For this evening, no tent sides had to come down.  For Jessica and Brandon, they were blessed with that perfect, outdoor wedding weather that every couple prays for.

For Jessica and Brandon, Keswick Vineyards holds another special place in their love story.  Brandon chose to propose to Jessica down by our pond and immediately knew they also had to get married here.  I love hearing at the end of the night from our couples how their wedding day was their best day ever and are so thankful for all the hard work all the vendors provide to make that happen.  Just look at some of the delicious food provided by Harvest Moon, one of our preferred caterers and the fun everyone is having on the dance floor.

Bury the Bourbon???

What’s this, you’ve never heard of the Southern tradition of burying the bourbon for your wedding?

Well, let me explain.
It is an old Southern tradition that a wedding couple should bury a bottle of bourbon, upside down, on the property they are getting married at exactly one month before their wedding date to ward off any bad weather.  Does it work? In our experience, absolutely!  For every couple that has buried a bottle of bourbon at Keswick Vineyards it hasn’t rained for their ceremony.  That’s a pretty good record going on our 13th year!

Brittany and Brennan were no exception.  On Friday, April 15th, these two tied the knot at Keswick Vineyards to one of those perfect Spring wedding days that we all wish for.  Brittany and Brennan live in New York and were not able to bury their bourbon themselves, so they sent one of their friends to do the honors.  It was so sweet to have that friend there as they unearthed it.  Thank you Southern tradition for working your magic once again!

As I mentioned, Brittany and Brennan were blessed with such a beautiful day.  Adding to their ceremony beauty in front of the iconic Keswick Vineyards fountain were some of the most beautiful Spring floral arrangements.  Just look how beautiful the aisle was lined with these florals.

One of the most memorable moments of the night had to be when Brittany surprised Brennan with a dance along with her bridesmaids.  You definitely could tell they were all former cheerleaders with those precise moves!  The crowd just loved the show! Speaking of shows, Beauty and the Beast holds a very special meaning to this couple.  Lets just say they live in New York and are actors, you fill in the rest.  Any ways, what better song could be played but Tale As Old As Time as Brittany made her way to the alter.  You can’t write a script any better than what was written this day for the two of them.  It was an honor to be their planner and I wish them a fairytale life together.
